Sustainable bridge renovation (Rhine-Main area)

Sustainable bridge renovation instead of expensive new construction
A bridge is more than just concrete and steel—it is a lifeline. In this project, CSZ faced the challenge of maintaining a heavily used structure in an economical, safe, and sustainable manner. Right from the start of the project, it became clear that the damage was more extensive than expected. Footpaths and cycle paths were particularly affected by de-icing salt and moisture. A sustainable renovation strategy – with a clear priority on value retention and efficient use of resources – led to success in this project

Measures implemented:

  • Renewal of road surface and waterproofing to prevent future chloride damage
  • Professional concrete renovation with a durable surface protection system
  • Repair of the road transitions for maximum durability
  • Sustainable protection of the bridge caps to reduce wear and tear and maintenance

Result:
Each measure measurably extends the service life of the structure – with minimal use of resources and maximum cost-effectiveness.
Renovation means: ensuring mobility, preserving value, and shaping the future.
