TU Berlin’s New Mathematics Center: CSZ Advances Construction Progress
An impressive center for mathematical teaching and research is being built on the campus of the Technical University (TU) in the heart of Berlin. The modern building will be equipped with five lecture halls, 40 seminar rooms, work and meeting rooms, a specialist library, and a cafeteria. At a total cost of over 110 million euros, the construction project is being carried out by the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing. This new building will serve around 2,500 students and around 600 employees in research, teaching, and administration on a daily basis.
CSZ: expertise in sustainable building and technical planning.
The architectural design comes from Code Unique, while CSZ is responsible for the planning and construction supervision services for the technical building services, structural design and BNB coordination. The BNB coordination includes the planning and implementation of measures to ensure that a construction project meets the criteria of the Federal Sustainable Building Program.
Insight into the construction phase: CSZ reaches technical milestone.
The construction of the new mathematics building, and the new “Simulation Mathematics” research building is making impressive progress. The technical extension and installation work was recently started, which presented a logistical challenge and required the expertise of CSZ. A significant milestone was reached when a mobile crane lifted an 8-ton chiller and two drycoolers onto the roof. The organization of this challenge even required a road closure and a BVG bus detour. In addition, buffer storage tanks and heat exchangers for the refrigeration technology were successfully installed.
