Bezahlbarer Wohnraum trifft Sicherheit – CSZ im Pilotprojekt Fürth

Affordable housing meets safety – CSZ in the Fürth pilot project

Serial timber construction is revolutionizing residential construction in Bavaria: fast, efficient, and sustainable. With the first type approval for residential buildings with load-bearing solid wood walls by the Bavarian Ministry of Construction under Construction Minister Christian Bernreiter, buildings that are identical or similar in construction can be approved and implemented much more quickly. The eight-story pilot building at Komotauer Straße 14 in Fürth, built by the Fürth municipal housing association (WBG Fürth), impressively demonstrates the capabilities of modern timber construction.

📌Facts about the project:

  • 8 floors with load-bearing solid wood walls
  • 24 barrier-free apartments with income-based subsidies (EOF)
  • Completion in just 13 months thanks to serial prefabrication

As the tallest rental apartment building of this type in Bavaria, the project is a prime example of space-saving planning, sensible redensification, efficient construction processes, and genuine climate protection. This pilot project demonstrates that modern wood construction design, sustainability, and fast construction times are not mutually exclusive. They form the basis for sustainable urban development and the creation of affordable living space. CSZ is proud to have contributed to the success of this forward-looking project with its fire protection planning. The project was completed in just 13 months thanks to serial prefabrication.
