Building project

The extension of Gate A of the Frankfurt International Airport increased the building length by approximately 500 m in order to provide additional boarding areas to more 20 airplanes serving mainly national and European destinations. The four story extension provides space for passengers in the second and third floor, the ground and the fourth floor contain the technical equipment. An extension of the light rail system for passenger transportation already connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 on the roof of Gate A is possible.

Construction

Reinforced concrete structure with one-way slabs on r. c. beams. The columns and shear walls were cast in place; beams, stairs and slabs were pre-cast or partially pre-cast with cast-in-place addition respectively. The entire structure was built without formwork for horizontal members ensuring a short construction time.
